A GED/Computer Skills and Employment Readiness Program

     
 

JOB TITLE: GED Instructor

SUMMARY: Prepare youth, ages 14 to 21, for the GED examination. Strong curriculum development skills with the ability to incorporate technology into instruction. Highly organized with the ability to manage people, processes, and tasks. Able to resolve conflicts, and provide leadership and direction to students in transition. Work closely with school staff to translate in class student GED competencies development with the computer skills and employment internship components of the program.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops, revises, and evaluates curriculum to meet the needs of students with an emphasis on the use of online resources
  • Provides classroom instruction and preparation for the General Education Development Exam
  • Connects GED competencies instruction with designated curriculum theme and occupational readiness
  • Works closely with Computer Lab Instructor and ABE Director in connecting the student's GED skills to their computer lab and internship performance
  • Maintains a classroom environment conducive to learning, the development of a professional demeanor, and respect for others
  • Records and evaluates student academic progress and attendance

SUPERVISION: Reports to Director of Adult Basic Education and School President

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors Degree required, Masters preferred
  • Three years teaching, youth preferred
  • Department of Education approved teacher
  • Strong command of GED subject areas
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
