ABC’s of Supporting Your Student Success

Education is the most reliable way of moving up the economic ladder in the United States. Gone are the jobs that required little education. Your student’s success with the GED/PC Literacy curriculum is crucial to their ability to do anything worth doing.  Basic employment, the military, technical training, and college are all out of reach to your student until they achieve their GED.  They need your support in this short but pivotal period. For your student to succeed over the next six months you can support them best by:

1. Hold class time in high regard.

Scheduling - Avoid scheduling appointments of any kind during class time when possible.

  • Treat class time similar to employment on-time expectations. Help your child recognize the importance of being on time consistently.  Help your child learn to plan in morning chores and travel time with time to spare for contingency. –If necessary, badger-
  • Only make or accept calls outside of class time.
  • Class time is 9am – 3pm: Break for 10 min before each hour, lunch from 11:50 – 12:20pm.
  • ·Prepare for and Ask about the Activities of the Day – Celebrate Success!

2. Help your child learn to be ready for school

3. Stay in Communication
